罗比之屋坐落于美丽的芝加哥大学校园内，由美国最伟大的建筑师弗兰克·劳埃德·赖特设计，被誉为赖特“田园学派”最伟大的代表作之一和第一所纯美式建筑，也是二十世纪的最伟大的建筑杰作之一。1963年11月27日被选为美国国家历史地标。 赖特设计的住宅，内部空间总有一种想与自然环境相关联的轴线倾向，并且在艺术组合中起主导作用的因素是场所的概念，即地点概念的再发现。赖特住宅那种强调水平型的宽阔屋顶，完全是作为安全栖息的茅屋或木屋的一种隐喻，有种“草原”的韵味。
